Artist’s Description

Watercolor Florals & Acrylic Botanicals

Olympia, Washington

My attic studio is where I create my whimsical floral watercolors and more recently, acrylic collage botanicals on wood panels.

My focus is to share the visual beauty I experience in our natural world, whether it be a hike in The Olympics or Mt Rainier National Park, or my backyard garden, full of flowers and vegetables. Both of these delights inspire my work.

I’ve spent more years working with watercolor and ink, and recently fell in love with acrylic paints, along with making my hand textured collage papers. I follow many artists worldwide on Instagram and have traveled to attend some fabulous art retreats, to help me grow and expand as an artist. My perspective is we all have something of value to share with the public and to keep learning.

I depended heavily on my visual skills growing up and as an adult, having a genetic hearing loss, going back to my great grandfather. I’ve been humbled and have more compassion for anyone with any type of disability, especially hearing since it’s invisible and impacts all communication. Painting has brought me much joy, learning, and a connection to other artists and businesses in Olympia. It is a place where I can express myself better than words and all I see around me in the beautiful PNW. I try to show how I value and appreciate the natural world, and that we must care for it, not just by noticing but by protecting it too.
